Landing Page Copywriting: Tips for Higher Conversion Rates

Landing Page Copywriting Tips for Higher Conversion Rates

The main point of landing pages is to get users to convert. There are a few different aspects that go into a killer landing page, and content is one of them. Your landing page could be beautifully designed, but if it doesn’t have concise and persuasive copy, conversions may take a hit.

For higher conversion rates on your landing pages, here are some key strategies to follow:

1. Understand Your Audience’s Intent

While your brand should have its own identity, it should align with your target audience. The messaging on your landing page should be tailored for your audience and address specific needs and any pain points. Try not to use advanced jargon or overcomplicate things. Keep things as short and simple as possible.

A lot of the time, users are coming to your landing page from an ad they clicked on. So, it becomes vital that the messaging between your ad copy aligns with the copy on your landing page. It is also a good idea to review things every now and again, to make sure things are still aligned.

2. Persuasive Value Proposition

What is compelling a user to make a transaction? You need to convince them that what you’re offering has significant benefits and will make their lives better. Don’t just list the features of your product or service; highlight what makes them special and different from others out there.

Don’t beat around the bush either, start with a strong headline (which is usually the first thing people will see) that grabs their attention and quickly explains the value of what you’re offering. The supporting copy can help explain things a little further, but keep this short as well. Visuals and examples to prove value can help get users over the line.

3. Optimise Your Call to Action (CTA)

Your CTA is probably the most important aspect of the landing page; if it doesn’t stand out enough, users might not click on it, which is obviously the most important step in converting. Use contrasting colours so your CTA stands out and has a clear message. The CTA should only be a couple of words as well.

This is the time to create urgency by using options like “Download Now”, “Only 2 Left”, or “Claim Today”. It’s also a good idea to avoid different CTA on the same page. Instead, focus on a clear action you want users to take when they are visiting each specific landing page on your website.

4. Test and Test (and Test Some More!)

Get some A/B testing happening with your landing page. Testing is great, but it’s only as great as the data it spits out, so make sure your analytics are properly set up! With A/B testing, you can see which copy, designs, layouts, etc. are working better.

Keep a constant eye on the results and ensure you are agile enough to implement changes as required. This isn’t a set-and-forget kind of task; your landing pages require constant nurturing and should evolve as more data comes in.
